Michael Broughton Launches Campaign for Homer Town Board at Community Kick-Off Event
Little York, NY – August 11, 2025 — Michael Broughton, running as an Independent candidate for the Homer Town Board, will officially launch his campaign at a Community Kick-Off Event on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The event will take place at Pavilion #2, Dwyer Memorial County Park (Little York Lake Road, Preble, NY).
Broughton has dedicated the past year to fostering transparency and civic engagement by documenting and sharing Town Board meetings via YouTube. His commitment to open government stems from concerns about prior proposals—such as the instant promotion of electronic billboards—that lacked sufficient community input.
Attendees are invited to meet Michael, enjoy light refreshments, and discuss his vision for the Town of Homer. In his role on the Board, Broughton plans to:
Uphold and enhance the transparency and responsiveness of local governance.
Collaborate on the ongoing updates to the town’s comprehensive plan, balancing preservation of Homer’s rural character with smart, forward-looking economic development.
Oppose any language that would revise zoning laws to allow electronic billboards along Interstate 81.
Three candidates will vie for two open seats on the Homer Town Board this November. Incumbent Kevin Williams seeks re-election, while Barry Warren will retire.
